H.E. Mr. Rachmat Budiman was appointed as the Indonesian Ambassador to the Republic of Austria and the Republic of Slovenia, as well as Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Vienna since October 2012. During his tenure in Vienna, he has served among others as President of the Sixth Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) from 2012–2014, Chair of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (May 2013), Vice President of the Fourth Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (2012–2013), and Co-Coordinator of the CTBT Article XIV process (2013–2015).

Ambassador Budiman has had a long career in diplomacy, serving his country in a wide variety of positions both at home and abroad.

Before coming to Vienna, Ambassador Budiman served as Director for Treaties on Political, Security and Territorial Affairs at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry in Jakarta, Indonesia from 2008–2012. His duties in that position included, among others, overseeing bilateral and multilateral treaties concluded by Indonesia, as well as negotiating maritime borders between Indonesia and its neighboring countries. Before that, he was Secretary to the Directorate General of Information and Public Diplomacy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2007–2008, where he was responsible, among other things, for public diplomacy affairs of the Ministry. From 2002–2005 he served as Deputy Director for Treaties on Maritime Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
